Credit Union Branch Payment Procedure

Your credit union may choose to allow members to make their mortgage payments at your branch locations. The credit union should develop internal procedures for remitting payments to Mortgage Center as soon as they are received and ensure that the process is properly communicated to employees throughout your credit union. There are many other payment options available to members. Mortgage Center is direct through many bill pay services, we offer ACH payments on the third business day of the month, online payments through MortgageCenter.com (a fee may apply for one-time payments), check by phone options (there is a fee for this service), and members may also mail their payments to our office in Southfield. 

Please note that any payments received by Mortgage Center before 3:00 p.m. est. will be posted to the member’s mortgage loan the same day they are received. Payments accepted after 3:00 p.m. est. will be processed the following business day.

  • Member must have their Mortgage Center loan number. If the member does not have their loan number, it can be obtained by a credit union representative by calling a Loan Servicing Representative at (800) 454-0356. The representative should indicate they are accepting a branch payment and have the member’s social security number available.
  • Credit union must establish an internal process/procedure to make the information included in the daily file download received from Mortgage Center is available to staff that will be accepting payments.
  • Credit union personnel must verify that a payment can be accepted from the member. Payments cannot be accepted on loans delinquent more than two (2) installments or loans that have any payment freeze code. Contact a Loan Collections Counselor at (800) 454-0356 for instructions.
  • Credit union personnel must verify the total monthly payment due. Payments for more than the total amount due must include instruction on how to apply the additional amount, (additional principal, additional escrow).
  • Credit union representative will then initiate a Share to Share/Wire Transfer to Mortgage Center using their internal procedures for wiring funds. All wires must include the member’s first and last name and full loan number with Mortgage Center. (Please note that this account number differs from our Funding account that you use closing transactions.) Send funds:

Special instructions

  • Payments will only be posted on Mortgage Center’s normal business days. Payments accepted on Saturday or a Mortgage Center approved holiday will be posted the following business day.
  • Any questions regarding late fees or payment arrangements should be referred to a Loan Collections Counselor at (800) 454-0356.
  • No partial payments can be accepted in the branch unless specific arrangements are made with a Loan Collections Counselor.
